Drunk Angels

We've all been there. One of those items that really isn't that important has gone MIA. And for reasons that can't be fathomed the very idea of not seeing said object ever again is enough to send you into a tizzy of tears. So you pray. A prayer so desperate it would put the widow with the lost coin to shame. And then you wait.

The item I misplaced was a Phantom of the Opera CD. Now I confess to having two other versions of this same CD. Yet it was the one copy that I was missing that I just HAD to have. In the midst of going through every CD case kept in the house by myself and every member of my family I got THE call. Not to the ministry, but to go pick up friends who had drank themselves into a stupor (being a tea-totaler I don't understand the urge, but would rather have them call than drive and kill themselves or someone else). So I went.

Enter three inebriated male friends and a tiny two-door Honda Civic (that I practically live in). I pushed, shoved, manipulated, and finally forced the rather large, intoxicated males into my vehicle. They practically had limbs hanging out the open window. Their first order of business was putting their now two years old state of mind to good use by digging into every pocket and cranny, pulling out 'treasures'.

"Sunglasses! Oops, not anymore. Sorry!"

"Hey look! A new deck of cards. Haha! They just exploded everywhere!" All on their own of course.

"Seriously cassette tapes?!? "

"Guys! Look, look, LOOK! I found a CD! I've never heard of Newsong." And the CD case is thrust into my face nearly causing an accident."Can we listen to this?"

And of course I am thinking 'thank goodness music to soothe the beast! If it worked on King Saul it ought to work on my three tortured souls.' (Not to mention drown out the sound of their voices.) So I open the case and right there on top is my missing CD! I confess to putting it in rather gleefully. However, I'm not sure opera and alcohol mix. Ah well, perhaps that is God getting a last word in, eh?
